回国航班延误了?你赶快跟航空公司要钱啊

编者:作为动不动就要越洋飞十几个小时的留学生们来说,遭遇航班延误是再稀松平常不过的事情了,尤其是在整个民航业都不太靠谱的美帝 (来!把那个说美国航班都准时准点的美分党拖出去)那么遭遇航班延误或者取消,你如何向航空公司维权索赔呢?今天分享一些前辈经验给你,收藏好。

前几天正好碰上飞机延误,用上了CSP和Prestige的delay insurance,就过来贡献一点经验,为后人铺铺路

主要就拿CSP当例子了,Prestige大同小异首先,eligibility是

1) 延误的地点不是billing address附近,e.g. 住在纽约在LGA延误的话,信用卡公司是不管的。

2) 必须是往返票

3) 对于CSP来说,是票只有一部分用CSP付的就可以,我是全部用CSP付的,如果大家有data pt可以补充

4) 对于Prestige来说,整个ticket必须全部用Prestige或者TYP付清

5) CSP 需要delay 12 hrs或overnight,Prestige 只需要delay 3 hrs

ok now.

如果eligible,reseasonable的花费是会被报销的,up to $500 per incident (not per night),这里面包

1) 酒店

2) 吃饭

3) 交通

4) 其他,包括衣服,medical care, etc

同时,吃饭,买东西等留下所有的itemized receipt,仅仅有最后签单的单子不可以,保险人员也会通过receipt来判断哪些消费是可以cover的,一些消费比如alcoholic drinks和小费是没法报销的。这些消费可以随便用自己哪一张信用卡或现金,只要有receipt就好等到travel结束了,就该file claim了,给客服打电话吧!

会转到一个专门的部门去file claim,这时候他们会发来email让你填个表,里面大概有一些对delay和花费的解释(CSP和Prestige的不是很一样,但大同小异),非常简单,填完以后,和其他需要的文件一起发email回去就好了,这里需要的文件一般包括但不限于

  • Claim form signed by Cardmember (就是上面发过来的那张表)
  • Card billing statement showing cardmember name and transaction charge for the common carrier ticket (证明票是用你需要file claim的这张卡购买的,用银行的statement就行)
  • Copy of travel itinerary/reservation confirming dates of travel and carrier used (航空公司的confirmation email即可)
  • Support of Trip Delay (ex: letter from common carrier, newspaper clipping, weather report, police report, etc.) (这里比较tricky,我会详细解释一下)
  • Written proof of settlement or outcome of the claim filed with the airline or common carrier (同上,我会详细解释)
  • Receipts for travel expenses as a result of the delay (对于吃饭需要itemized list,对于交通和酒店只要有receipt或者bill就行,in my case,酒店,taxi和uber都是用的email来的receipt,他们照单全收)

  • 更新以后的itinerary和登机牌

对于support of trip delay,有几种方法

1) 和柜台的staff要,staff抑或会打印一个proof出来,抑或是手写一张单子(US Airways便是如此)

2) 事后和航空公司联系,比如AA就会有一个表格,(google: proof of delay aa),填完了过几天AA会给你发个邮件证明这个航班delay了,存下来email发出去就好

3) FlightAware的航班截图,据说会收,但是不确定

对于Written proof of settlement or outcome of the claim filed with the airline or common carrier,这个需要的主要是航空公司对于delay是否有责任,是否会赔偿,如果会的话,信用卡的delay insurance可能会deny你的要求,因为航空公司应该是primary赔偿的一方。

如果是天气等原因造成的delay,航空公司一般不会赔偿

这样的话,就需要航空公司出具证明,但是柜台的staff可能没有这个权力,就需要事后联系航空公司提供denial of compensation,这个可以在request proof of delay的同时说清。比如,在我的case里,AA提供给我的证明如下(没找到US Airways类似的链接,只好麻烦AA了):

Dear Mr. XXX:
Thank you for contacting Customer Relations. We are pleased to provide the verification you requested.US Airways flight xxx, scheduled to operate on March 12, 2015 from A to B, was cancelled for weather. We do not provide compensation or reimbursement when flights are delayed or cancelled for weather.

We hope this information is helpful.

到这里,基本需要的信息就全了,发给处理claim的人们让他们去忙活吧。CSP的claim好像是要在travel结束后60天file claim,120天补齐所有文件(不确定,大家仔细查一下),Prestige貌似是30天内claim,60天内补齐,千万不要误了这个time frame

如果一切顺利,一周左右就会收到这么一封邮件

This email is in reference to the claim that you had filed under the Trip Delay Benefit. We did receive all of the necessary documents and we are able to honor your claim in the amount of $xxx.xx. This amount represents the reasonable expenses that you incurred due to the delay, less tips. You will receive the payment in the form of a check within the next seven (7) to ten (10) business days. Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

并且过几天会收到一张check,claim过程结束
